DESCRIPTION:
 
The Anthony Lab at the Center for Immunology and Inflammatory Diseases (CIID) at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA, is seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and organized Research Technician I. The laboratory studies the role of glycosylation in antibody functions using a combination of biochemical, enzymatic and glycobiological approaches combined with in vivo and in vitro functional systems of antibody-mediated inflammation.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Prepare reagents
  • Set up and prepares routine experiments as directed 
  • Basic molecular biology techniques (DNA, RNA, protein extraction, quantification, electrophoresis)
  • Cell culture 
  • Recombinant antibody engineering, expression, and purification
  • ELISA
  • Western blotting
  • Examining antibody functions in in vitro cell assays as well as in vivo mouse model of inflammation
  • Glycan profiling using HPLC
  • Flow Cytometry
  • Maintain laboratory notebook 
  • Understand and apply basic scientific techniques 
  • Conduct analysis of results
  • Assist with organizing materials for publication or presentation 
  • Maintain and order supplies 
 
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Computer literacy, specifically Microsoft Office and Prism 
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks independently 
  • Highly organized and motivated
 
EDUCATION: 
  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
 
EXPERIENCE: 
  • Previous laboratory experience in cell culture, biochemistry, or molecular biology is preferred, but not required.
