Postdoctoral Fellowship in Tumor Glycobiology

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Tumor Glycobiology

An NIH-funded Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Susan Bellis at the University of Alabama, Birmingham (UAB).  UAB is a renowned research institute and academic medical center, and hosts one of the few NCI-supported Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the Southeast.  The Bellis laboratory studies the role of the ST6Gal-I sialyltransferase in promoting tumor initiation and progression.  Using cell, patient organoid, and genetically-engineered mouse models, we are investigating the mechanisms by which ST6Gal-I-mediated receptor sialylation drives a cancer stem cell phenotype.

This position requires a recent Ph.D. degree and broad training in cell biology, molecular biology and biochemistry.  Expertise in cancer biology, genome editing, and mouse breeding is preferred, but not required.  In addition, the candidate should have a strong record of publication in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.  To apply, please send a curriculum vita, cover letter describing scientific background, and a list of professional references to bellis@uab.edu.   This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is identified.
