29th International Carbohydrate Symposium (ICS 2018) in Lisbon July 15-19 preceded by the ICS Iberain Day on July 14th

March 5, 2018

The organizing committee of the 29th International Carbohydrate Symposium (ICS 2018) is delighted to announce this meeting, endorsed by IUPAC, to be held from the 15th to the 19th of July at Faculdade de Ciências, Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL). The Roy Whistler Award Lecture by David Crich (Wayne State University), and the ICO Young Researcher Award Lecture will be given in the opening session on July 15th. In the morning of the same day, the Young Researcher Workshop will be organized, co-sponsored by CarboMet, aiming to bring together the young participants of ICS 2018. As a pre-symposium on July 14th, recent findings in glycochemistry and glycobiology will also be presented at the ICS Iberian Day.

The scientific sessions cover emerging areas of glycosciences, lectured by the world's most prestigious experts.  Presentations in all areas in which carbohydrates play a key role are welcome, namely in personalized medicine, glycosylation and disease, vaccines, prebiotics, in particular for infants, gut microbiota, nutrition, cosmetics, natural products embodying carbohydrates, glycomaterials, polysaccharide biotechnology, lignocellulosic biomass valorization, and glycoinformatics and of course synthesis, analysis and biomolecule structure.
Highlight-worthy is the organ concert, free for participants and registered accompanying persons, that is played at the Basilica of the Palace of Mafra, which six pipe organs are widely known around the world. They are a unique organ ensemble originally conceived to play together, completed in 1807 and restored several times along the centuries.
Gala dinner will be at Casino Estoril, partially sponsored by the Organizing Committee of ICS 2018.
The Organizing Committee is pleased to invite you to join this Symposium, sharing your expertise in this networking forum with leading scientists from academia and industry, particularly dedicated to the young researchers! The deadline for early bird registration is the 4th of May, and the deadline for abstract submission is the 18th of May.
