The Complex Carbohydrate Research Center at the University of Georgia trains undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral research associates and visiting scientists from the U.S. and around the world in the principles, methods and analytical techniques used to study complex carbohydrates.

These varied training opportunities are supported in part by fees from participants and by funds from the US Department of Energy and the US National Institutes of Health.
Further information about training opportunities at the CCRC can be obtained at: http://www.ccrc.uga.edu/training/index.php
or email Dr. Parastoo Azadi at azadi@ccrc.uga.edu; phone: 706-583-0629.

Courses for Techniques for Characterization of Complex Carbohydrates

Course 1, Separation and Characterization of Glycoprotein and Glycolipid Oligosaccharides - Glycoprotein Course – August 2-6, 2010.

Course 2, Techniques for Characterization of Carbohydrate Structure of Polysaccharides - Polysaccharide Course  - August 9-13, 2010.

Course 3, Analytical Techniques for Structural Analysis of Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) – August 16-18, 2010.

Course 4, Mass Spectrometry of Glycoproteins – October 18-19, 2010.  The mass spectrometry training course will focus on the analysis of glycoproteins by mass spectrometric techniques.

The Alberta Ingenuity Centre for Carbohydrate Science (AICCS) is pleased to announce its 5th National Carbohydrate Symposium at the Banff Park Lodge in beautiful Banff, AB, May 14-16, 2009.

Ten internationally renowned scientists in different fields of chemistry and biology will provide an update of their research. There will be also an opportunity for Symposium participants to present their work in the form of a short presentation or a poster.

Confirmed speakers are:

Science Sessions:
Dr. Laurie Comstock - Harvard Medical School, USA, Dr. Beat Ernst - University of Basel, Switzerland, Dr. Robert Field - John Innes Centre, England, Dr. Peter Seeberger - Free University Berlin, Germany, Dr. Dennis Kasper - Harvard Medical School, USA, Dr. Julie Leary - University of California at Davis, USA, Dr. Lawrence McIntosh - University of British Columbia, Dr. Daan van Alten - University of Dundee, Scotland
