A postdoctoral position in Biochemistry/Molecular Cell Biology
is open in the laboratory of Prof. Hassan Y. Naim,
Department of Physiological Chemistry, University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (; see also publication list in PubMed under Naim HY).
The position is initially open for 3 years with the possibility of extension. The acquisition of the German Habilitation will be encouraged and supported.
In Research:
Applicants are expected to have worked and acquired an outstanding expertise and published in a current area of ​​Biochemistry, Molecular Cell Biology or Biomedicine.
The current research areas of the Naim laboratory are:
  1. Pathogenesis of genetically-determined carbohydrate malabsorption disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome: elucidation of the trafficking pathways of intestinal membrane glycoproteins implicated in these disorders and their interaction with membrane microdomains.
  2. Protein and membrane trafficking of lysosomal proteins in lysosomal storage diseases
In Teaching:
The applicant is expected to be actively involved in teaching activities of the Department in German and English languages. These include lectures and courses for students of Veterinary Medicine, Biology and Biochemistry.
Job requirements
  • Doctoral degree in Biochemistry, Biology, or a Biomedical discipline
  • Outstanding theoretical and technical knowledge in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell biology (particularly imaging techniques)
  • Reliability, flexibility, commitment and dedication
  • Willingness to instruct and support in supervision of Bachelor, Master theses and Doctoral theses
  • Very good spoken and written German and English language skills
Acquisition of extramural funding will be expected after an appropriate training period.
The salary will be according to the E13 or E14 TV-L scale commensurate with qualification and age. Equally qualified severely disabled people will be given priority. The position is not suitable as a part-time job.
