**NEW JOB POSTING** Postdoctoral Associate Position

August 27, 2020

Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation, Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, La Jolla CA

Dr. Hudson Freeze has a Postdoctoral Associate position available to study the biochemistry and cell biology of a variety of human glycosylation disorders and the opportunity to blend fundamental Glycobiology with medical and translational opportunities. Being part of this lab provides opportunities to have strong interactions with families/patients, physicians, and multiple NIH-sponsored consortia. You will discover, validate, or identify the molecular basis of entirely new disorders of glycosylation. These involve inherited or de novo mutations that affect single or multiple glycosylation pathways. These disorders affect enzyme activity, ER-Golgi protein trafficking and sugar metabolism. Dr. Freeze’s lab uses cells and other models to study these diseases.

The ideal candidate must have first author publications and hands-on experience in areas that may include mammalian cell metabolism, biochemistry, glycobiology, glycan analysis, signaling pathways and gene manipulation. Prior experience in flow cytometry, fluorescense microscopy, proteomics, metabolomics, ER-Golgi interactions, ERAD, and functions of glycosylation will be advantageous.

We seek someone who is independent, self-motivated, with strong critical thinking skills who also thrives in collaborative relationships, builds relationships, and is able to effectively communicate.
